The Most Beautiful Bag I've Ever Made....

Well, darn, by the time I'd finally gotten pictures of this bag, I made another bag, and now that's the most beautiful bag....

Oh, well.

What I like about this bag is the layering...I used two fabrics, the lacy silver black scarf fabric and the shiny silver black confetti dot fabric. I used some of the confetti dot for the "necklace" at the top of the bag, but then I also put it underneath the body of the purse, so the sparkles "peak" out of the scarf fabric. I really love the way it looks and sparkles.

I also was pretty thrilled with the button I chose. I have many, many buttons that I could have potentially used...a silver metal one with a floral pattern specifically, but I decided to use this one. To me, the button looks like it's made of bubbles, with a tiny crystal rhinestone in the center of it.

It might be an interesting blog to show a purse in the making and the way a button changes the look of a purse. That will be for next time.

I hope your forth is so much fun and safe!

Sewing For Me

I love to make things to sell, love customer's reactions to my bags and feel so blessed to be doing what I love.

But I decided that this weekend is for me...so I chose the fabrics that most spoke to me and here's what I came up with:

I decided to use the hot pink cotton (it looks tie dyed) for a summery dress and the floral cotton print for a jacket. I think the fabrics look really nice together. Plus, I didn't want to make the floral into a shirt because I didn't want to launder it all the time--the colors are so bright against the stark white I want to keep it as fresh looking as possible.

What do you think?

I'll post later my results. I'm so excited!

Tell Me Why When You're so Blue

SKY

Tell me why when you're so blue,
You're most tranquil (In a good mood)?

Like blue ink spilled you're smooth and wet.

Your enormity scares me,
Comforts me,
Spares me,

From emcompassing doom
When in grey gloom you sometimes cry.

I wrote that poem when I was about 17 for a writing class. I remember I was outside on a spring day...feeling the vastness of the sky, the air was a little cool (it was a Florida day in the morning) and birds were active all around me.

It's not spring yet, but people are anxious for it. Here's a few treasuries with spring time blue in them (and my Sea Wolf bag).

What is the appeal of Turquoise and Gray?

I see so much of this combination lately, and I love it.

Check out this website about color: http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.comTurquoise is a combination of blue and a small amount of yellow, turquoise fits in on the color scale between green and blue. This color radiates the peace, calm and tranquility of blue and the balance and growth of green with the uplifting energy of yellow.

On the other hand, gray is a detached, neutral color, neither white nor black or a "fence-sitter." Gray has a steadying effect on other colors. What a perfect complement for turqoise!

I am so excited how this purse came out. Normally, I like all my purses small, but this bag is so pretty, I'm making an exception. I'm going to make a ruby red fur purse this week, the fur is so gorgeous! I just put this one on Etsy.

Make sure you stay tuned to my blog and Etsy so I can show you all the fur choices if you'd like to order one of these bags.

Gingerbread Boy Purse

Tommorrow, I am going to be in the Bags and Purses Showcase in Etsy so I thought I would think outside of the box. To the left is my first purse that I will show...This purse doubles as a doll purse or christmas ornament for your tree because the purse body is only 3" tall! What do you think? Were your fooled, did you think this was a big purse?
