Invasion of the Body Snatchers Custom Pouches
I had a really cool custom order in my Gypsy Girl Shop the other day: a custom order for two pouches patterned after pods with flowers from the movie, The Invasion of the Body Snatchers!
These were really fun to make and I think they turned out really cool.

New Purse Line: Metallic Fur Purses!
Well, I told you I loved metallic fabrics, didn't I? I've bought some really pretty metallic fabrics over the past few months, and have been tooling away, coming up with styles.
I love this faux fur and metallic print combination--I made sure the make the fur flap shorter so that the metallic peaks through--

I get so many compliments on this purse! |
and I am so excited at how the black and white lining coordinates with the silver and black metallic outside.
Of course, you'll have a choice of 4 furs, and but really, if you see another fur that I have better, just let me know. I can't wait to make these purses in different combinations, especially the blood red and black faux fur. Talk about dramatic!

Ghastlie Witch Purse - Follow-up With the Buyer
I was thrilled and flattered to get an email from the buyer of my Ghastlie Witch Purse below. Peggy had purchased the bag for a friend in October 2013 from my Bridal/Evening Bag Etsy Store for her friend's birthday, to be worn at an event at her friend's church. Here's some photos:

Here's part of what Peggy had to say, " . . . I wanted to remind you
that I bought your terrific handbag for my friend Sophia's special birthday
last October and you were good enough to make sure it arrived in time.
She LOVED IT and this weekend is the Gala for the charity event at Click here: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church | Tables
Extraordinaire 2014 The
theme of her table is Which Witch is Witch?
I spoke to her this morning and she has a wonderful gown to go
with your beautiful designed purse . . . It was a Glorious Gala and Dr. Sophia Hatz Cordoba, President
of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the host of the 5th Annual Tables
Extraordinaire was bewitching and beautiful as the hostess of the Which Witch is Which? award
winning table and carrying her custom designed CarolJoyFashions original
purse!"
Peggy also kindly included a photo of her friend holding the purse and the table she designed.
I love these type of emails--thanks so much for the photos, Peggy, and I love knowing my one and only witch purse went to a loving home!

New Years Eve Won't be the Same With These Spikes
I am so pleased at how this purse came out--I wanted a purse style that looked different and then I just picked up this cool fur. I can so see this will a black leather skirt, dress...spiked heels, patterned hose. Plus, the fur is high quality, super soft.
Look for more of this style from me in my faux fur, build a bag shop!
What color combinations do you like?

Minnesota Farm Vacation: Rochester Farmers Market
Here are some photos I took at the Rochester Farmers Market in Minnesota on my vacation. I love Rochester!
Lots of good eats!
This is the first Lefsa I've ever tried, I had mine with butter and cinnamon on long, flat bread. YUM!
I also ate three apple, two cherry and one plain home made doughnut. Hey, you're only on vacation for a short time, right?
I loved this wood working booth
This bus was a cool prop for a booth, wasn't it?
I saved the best for last.....
Isn't orange the new "in" color?

Purple and Brown Faux Fur Tote
I know I haven't finished my orange dress yet, but I was so proud of this fur bag I just made, I wanted to show it off!
When I was growing up, it seemed like certain color combinations were more basic, but maybe that's just my perception. Do you like the combination of purple and brown?
It's 106 degrees today in Las Vegas. Can't wait for the Fall!
I love the fur, it's multi-colored, plus, the fur is cut unevenly making it even more interesting. |
I was really happy with how the lining turned out too, it goes so well with the bag! |

Minnesota Farm Vacation: A Goose or a Dog
I would like to introduce you to Blue Violet, or Blue Velvet or Spot. He is a weeder goose, and eats bugs, weeds and pond scum. What a guy.
Paul and Leila Wiens got him from a friend who already had a male and female goose. Apparently, he is only 13 weeks old. As a baby he lived in Minneapolis and was a frequent visitor to his neighbors yards. This little guy is very social, he followed me every time I cleaned out his water bowls.
I wish you could hear the sound of his feet flapping on the grass and sidewalk as he ran after me. That's why I feel his name should be Spot, like a dog.
He got the name Blue Violet because of the blue feathers on his side.
The morning after the first night he was here we quacked for him because we weren't sure where he slept outside. He came running out of the woods that morning, quacking away. Now he sleeps up against the house on the porch.
I really loved this little guy.
Next time: My Misty Meadows Walk!

Minnesota Farm Vacation: Baby chicks
One of the most fun days I had on my Minnesota vacation at Misty Meadows Farm was going to the local post office in Rochester to pick up 500 baby chicks. We picked them up very early, about 6:00 AM, the cooler part of the morning.
I've never heard such a commotion. They call these fat, fluffy furballs "peepers" by the way.
Paul Wiens had already prepared the pen for the chicks in the barn. He laid down a thick pile of sawdust wood shavings in the pen. In the center of the pen were heat lamps so the chicks were nice and toasty. Near the lamps were five upside down containers that held a sugar water concoction and on the other side of the lamps were long containers for feed.
We counted the chicks as we placed them in the pen. There were about 100 chicks per box. The chicks went straight to the food and water!
It was really funny how the chicks followed each other around the pen. Even though the chicks were small and hardly weighed anything, they made a funny pattering noise as they chased each other around the pen.
I checked on those chicks a lot--sometimes because the chicks were so small and soft, they were able to slide out of a tiny hole in the pen. It was so funny to see one or two chicks standing outside the pen, they didn't seem to know what to do!
