Aqua Faux Fur and Beads

Well, I wish I was aqua until another color catches my eye.

Drumroll, please...I finished my aqua fur project.   Take a gander:

l
Remember my recent post about the faux aqua fur and sequins?
Isn't she pretty?  I decided to show off her fur lenth by using this pattern, see how the length of the fur shows up at the bottom?  Also, although this aqua is pretty, I decided I needed to break it up with a color that would tone the aqua down: brown or brass.  See the spotted brown handles?  I think they are a good match. Plus, I absolutely love the little coin beads.  They click a little when the purse moves.

I put the beads in very securely, and I decided to make this a wristlet purse, so it can be worn on the wrist, like a bracelet.

This fur was very thick so I ended up having to do a lot of hand sewing.  I find that if the fabric is too thick, the seam doesn't set straight by sewing over pins with the sewing machine.  Hand sewing is slow but I can check each stitch as I sew and then I can machine sew the handstiched seam.

I decided that while the sequin fabric was pretty, it was too much for this fur project.  I think I will make a little heart with it though, and put it around one of the handles for a little bling.

My Favorite !Bling! of all Time (number 3 of 5)

This combination fabric and beads was one of the most popular photos and I think we'd ever taken--The colors remind me of a sunset, or a pretty "beach" drink.

And I think it's so cool that I didn't buy the beads and the fabric together, but look how perfect they meld.

My favorite blings so far:

Hearts, hearts, hearts!!!

I'm a romantic at heart, and it's something I probably would not have admitted as a teenager, but I feel very comfortable admitting it now. I love the soft pink of a valentines day heart, enhanced with beads, jewels, and cotton rose fabric lining.
And wouldn't that be nice if the heart had an opening so you could put a piece of jewelry inside or a love note?

My Large Gingerbread Man Purse

I just completed the larger version of my miniature gingerbread man purse. It is so, so adorable! I've never used felt to make a large purse before, and I love the way it feels and looks. It has a wintry and holiday look to it. The felt is thick and sturdy and it's easy to add bling when you're dealing with a neutral color like gray.

Look for more felt type bags from me!

Gingerbread Boy Purse

Tommorrow, I am going to be in the Bags and Purses Showcase in Etsy so I thought I would think outside of the box. To the left is my first purse that I will show...This purse doubles as a doll purse or christmas ornament for your tree because the purse body is only 3" tall! What do you think? Were your fooled, did you think this was a big purse?

Red and Blue Stockings

These are two stockings I just finished, they are to be matching with a green stocking with the same elfen shape. They all have gold beads hand sewn around the top, and all have coordinating ribbons on the top. Pretty, pretty!

New Purse for the Upcoming Display

I made this purse yesterday for my upcoming display. I'm calling it Diamonds...diamonds something, or something diamonds. See, the fabric on the bottom has a diamond pattern.

I was thinking a bride could wear this too, or it can be worn as an elegant evening purse. I love the fluffy trim, it has little braided loops in it and a little bit of sparliness to it too.

I hand sewed a string of beads on either side of the handle. Very pretty and feminine, I think.

My New Display!

I'm busily getting ready for my new monthly display at the Green Valley Library, in Henderson Nevada.

Here's one of the ornaments I'm making, sort of an antiquely, victorian style, frou-frou purse. I love beaded, frilly, flashy things...and that's what I'm making right now for the holidays.
I'll be making stockings and regular evening purses as well.
If you happen to see the display, drop me a line, I'd love to know what you think of it. The display runs October 1 - October 31, 2010.
