Well, I couldn't think of a better way to describe what I feel--my sister sent me this bag she made--using the Carol Joy Fashions colors!  Isn't it beautiful?  There's a pocket on the outside front and back, perfect for holding business cards.  And she had one of my other sisters make a beaded clasp to hold keys. This is the greatest!  Thanks you two!

My Favorite !Bling! of all Time (number 4 of 5)

I think this trim bling is so cool! Not only is it pretty, but I took apart an entire vintage dress to get the colorful trim in the middle of the purse and the gold ball trim that is sewn vertically on the bag.

I think I like this so much because it has so much character...and I love the fact that no one will ever have a purse quite like this.

She'll Turn You Into a Toad

The Lovely Ms. Ghastlie

Meet Ms. Ghastlie, she's deciding if she should turn you into a turnip or snake.

I designed this bag myself and I'm pretty proud of it, it took me forever to make.  You'd think she'd be in a better mood, I hand sewed all sorted of goodies to her, like ruby red swarovski crysals, black beads, a feather and roses in her hair...even spiders.  Yes, I hand sewed spiders all around her.  She should be in seventh heaven.

BagSpider Bag

No, I'm not a spider fan, but I've made 4 bags so far featuring spiders (and a smattering of witches) and I have to tell you, those little creepy crawlies are growing on me...well, not literally. I sure like the ruby swarovsky crystals with the black spiders.

The Most Beautiful Bag I've Ever Made....

Well, darn, by the time I'd finally gotten pictures of this bag, I made another bag, and now that's the most beautiful bag....

Oh, well.

What I like about this bag is the layering...I used two fabrics, the lacy silver black scarf fabric and the shiny silver black confetti dot fabric. I used some of the confetti dot for the "necklace" at the top of the bag, but then I also put it underneath the body of the purse, so the sparkles "peak" out of the scarf fabric. I really love the way it looks and sparkles.

Buttons and Bows

I also was pretty thrilled with the button I chose. I have many, many buttons that I could have potentially used...a silver metal one with a floral pattern specifically, but I decided to use this one. To me, the button looks like it's made of bubbles, with a tiny crystal rhinestone in the center of it.

It might be an interesting blog to show a purse in the making and the way a button changes the look of a purse. That will be for next time.

My New Red, White & Black Logo Bag!!!

I finally finshed my logo bag see blog http://caroljoyfashions.blogspot.com/2012/06/whats-black-and-white-red-all-over.html

and my husband (aka the shipping department and photographer) took some great shots!

I love dramatic and this bag certainly shouts it! I used really nice, sturdy black faux leather for the main body and for the squares I added white cotton so I can wash it easily. I made sure I put a border on the top and bottom to minimize wear on the white cotton, but also to highlight the squares more.

I had a surprise while I was making this piece, I liked the position of the "C" better in the first square rather than in the second position (compare to my logo here.)



Anyway, it was so much fun choosing fabric for the lining--and I even picked up the red on the handles and the "O's" on the reverse side of the pockets.

I used the same red cotton broadcloth on the reverse side of the handles so they would wear more comfortably--the red "confetti dot" fabric would be itchy against your skin even though it looks great.

I used a lot of cushiony interfacing in this bag--I love the look and feel of it and plus, the added cushioning for the goodies in your bag.

I'll be carrying this bag with me wherever I go--and passing out my business cards and showing any stray purses I have inside this bag. Come say hi!

What's Black and White & Red All Over?

No, not a newspaper.

But before I get to what it is, let me just say my lovely husband (aka the shipping department) is making a wonderful shrimp pasta dinner (when he takes a break, I'm going to sneak some out of the pan).

Boy, he sure knows how to make great shrimp, he uses garlic, butter and lots of love...I need to get my mind off my empty stomach...

Okay, I'm in the process of making a "logo" purse. I think I made the concept up, but I'm not sure. It's going to look like my logo! I can't wait to show you, hope to have it done by this weekend!

Here Comes the Sun!

I just finished this large yellow cozy bag--and I'm in love with the colors and offbeat look.

I hand sewed a large vintage 80's piece of jewelry on the flap, and I was thrilled that it coordinated with the circles on the black cotton lining. The used yellow on the inside pocket to micmic the yellow fur (and it's also easier to see inside the pocket). The inky black handle and flap are made with faux suede--

I double or triple stitch all my seams in these large bags for extra durability, and of course, all the seams are nicely finished. This bag will truly be different in every way.

Buyer Appreciation - Thanks, Candace!

I made a purse that I called the Royal Ohm Purse...I put a lot of thought and care into it and I truly loved that purse. I had hand-embroidered the ohm symbol, and sewed many semi-precious stones on the front and back. Well, a lovely lady recently purchased it, and she sent me wonderful photos which she said I could share.

She sent me an email that really touched and flattered me and I know she will take great care of the Royal Ohm Purse. Namaste, Candace!

Sewing For Me

I love to make things to sell, love customer's reactions to my bags and feel so blessed to be doing what I love.

But I decided that this weekend is for me...so I chose the fabrics that most spoke to me and here's what I came up with:












I decided to use the hot pink cotton (it looks tie dyed) for a summery dress and the floral cotton print for a jacket. I think the fabrics look really nice together. Plus, I didn't want to make the floral into a shirt because I didn't want to launder it all the time--the colors are so bright against the stark white I want to keep it as fresh looking as possible.

What do you think?

It Reminds Me of Ketchup and Mustard

I love colors, and I think this bag is really cute, I especially love that red button that I think goes perfectly with black and mustard yellow. And the handles are a wonderful faux leather!

I especially love the lining, how perfectly it goes with the colors of the purse--andy khaki goes with almost anything!

This Fabric Reminds Me of a Romance Novel

She knew he was trouble as soon as she met his dark, angry eyes. Such pretty eyes too, why did men always get the thick eyelashes?

She wasn't some namby, pamby push around kind of girl either. She was a solid 40 year old woman, darn it all, and had been married before, and was well versed at this relationship business.

She'd told herself to calm down when he made an obvious move to talk to her, and he'd commented on the avocado she'd forgotten she was holding.

"Press down on the end, see if it gives any." He'd said,and then sort of ducked his head, like a bashful boy realizing he'd spoken out of turn.

Well that did it. That did it. little boy cute yes, but oh, so yummy, in a grown up sort of way.

Can You See the Faces In This Bag?

This is so cool, can you see the faces in this bag?  Do you see the man's and woman's face in the orange part of this bag?  He has a beard and appears to be wearing some type of hat, he looks like a famous painter to me.  She is in the upper right hand part of the bag--and she seems to be wear a long gown and has a crown on her head. 

Or am I plum crazy?!
